Work Camp

In July 2010 our senior high youth and youth group leaders will be attending a REACH work camp in Windsor, Maine. The camp runs from July 11 to July 17. We have reserved 15 spaces that will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Sign-ups and deposits need to be in by November 1, 2009. Read more about the 2010 Windsor Maine Work Camp here.

The First Congregational Church of Pembroke organized and implemented a week-long work camp in August 2009, during which we helped four local families with various home projects. Read more about our 2009 work camp here.

Interfaith Food Pantry

We accept offerings for the Interfaith Food Pantry serving Allenstown and Pembroke on the 2nd Sunday of the month (what we call "Brown Bag Sunday"). Items needed include, but are not limited to: juice, tuna, canned fruit, macaroni and cheese, cereal, soups, hash, canned meats, beef stew, personal hygiene products, and toilet paper. Donations may be left in the Parish Hall.

The pantry is open on Wednesdays from 1:00 to 3:00 PM and 5:30 to 6:30 PM. Volunteers to help in the pantry are needed. Contact Muriel Previe at the Pembroke Welfare Office (485-4747) if you have questions or want to volunteer.

Our Family's Table

Members of our church volunteer at the local soup kitchen, Our Family's Table, located at the Suncook United Methodist Church. Our Family's Table is open to all who need a hot meal, human contact, friends, or someone to listen and share. Meals are served every Wednesday evening at 5:30 PM from September to June. Volunteers are needed on those Wednesdays. If you wish to volunteer please contact Nancy, our church secretary, at secretary@pembrokechurch.org.

One-third of NIN funds support the Council for American Indian Ministry. Two-thirds of the offering is used by the UCC's Justice and Witness Ministries to support a variety of justice initiatives, advocacy efforts, and direct service projects.

One Great Hour of Sharing

One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS) is the relief, refugee and development fund of the United Church of Christ. It is one of the Special Mission Offerings received by the United Church of Christ and is a part of Our Churches Wider Mission. The OGHS offering is most often received the third Sunday of Lent.
