Our Community

1825 General Lafayette visits Pembroke and receives “an enthusiastic welcome.”
1828 Post office established in Suncook. Caleb Stark serves as first Postmaster.
1831 Town of Allenstown incorporated.
1837 The Methodist Meeting-house on the Hill is built.
1849 Old Fellowship establishes its first tangible abode when Howard Lodge #31 is instituted.
1849 The First Methodist Church at Suncook is dedicated.

Our Church

1825 Pembroke Society for the Reformation of Morals becomes the Sabbath Sunday Society.
1812-35 Revival meetings swell membership from 50 to 240.
1836 Present church is built.
1827 Voted to “put up the taking care of the South Meeting House to the lowest bidder.” (lowest bid: $3.70)
1833 Voted to “put the collecting of taxes to the lowest bidder,” and “it was struck off to Jacob Elliot at 1.5%”
