Our Community

1759 Lovewell’s Township and Plantation of Suncook become incorporated and named Pembroke
1761-62 Severe draughts
1767 Total population of Pembroke: 557 including 2 slaves. 15 pounds “lawful money” paid in corn, nye and peas voted for support of a school.

 

Our Church

1763 Presbyterians break away from church and incorporate their own parish.
1767 Committee appointed to “equitably assess all taxpayers the amount due Rev. Whittemore at the time the Presbyterians became a separate parish.”
1767 Parish books containing records of 1759-1767 destroyed by fire in home of Thomas Robertson, Parish clerk.
