1725 Number of Negro slaves in North American Colonies reaches 75,000.
1725 Capt. Lovewell and men take 19 Indian scalps in Wakefield, NH, first known scalping by white men.
1732 Ben Franklin publishes “Poor Richard’s Almanack,” sells 10,000 copies 1st year.
1738 George Whitefield, methodist evangelical minister from England, comes to colonies.
1750 First Conestaga wagon built.

Our Community

1728 Town of Suncook receives its grant from General Court of Massachusetts Bay.
1729 First permanent settler believed to be one of Lovewell’s men; Francis Doyen and wife.
1734 First bridge across the river and first mill are built.
1735 Twenty pounds raised at meeting of first proprietors to mend highways of the town.
1737 Proprietors of town vote to pay 5 pence a tail for every rattlesnake killed.

Our Church

1733 First Meetinghouse built
1735 Glass windows, seats and a desk are added to the Meetinghouse.
1741-48 Many Suncook settlers leave plantation – reason unknown.
1745 “Voted to raise 3 pounds 1 schilling old tenor on each single right” for Rev. Whittemore ‘s yearly salary.
1746 Old log Meetinghouse replaced by frame structure at a “raising.”
